LinkedIn Events: Why you should be using them for ALL of your events

Want an easy way to invite people to your event?

It doesn’t matter if it’s an online or in-person event.

Create it on LinkedIn as I did for this one.

It’s like I’m an event Ninja!

Okay, so you’re like “Yeah, I’ve done that before Mary. I created an event on LinkedIn to increase attendance, but it didn’t really work that well.”

Did you email everyone that signed up for your event?

What’s that?
You don’t know all their addresses?
No problem, LinkedIn will give them to you!

Well, sorta, kinda…

They will if you use the auto-fill form…

PRO TIP: you must create the event from a company page to use the auto form filler.

They'll see a form that's automatically pre-filled with their name and email addresses from their LinkedIn profile data. This allows members to submit the registration form to Event organizers without having to manually type in the requested details. #timesaver

LinkedIn social selling

The beauty of this is that you can download the attendee registration and then add them to your email provider and viola!~you can send them updates on the event! a.k.a nurture your new leads

Using this strategy for events allows attendees to ADD it to their calendars immediately.

I think we can all agree if it doesn't get put on the calendar there is a good chance it won’t happen.

Oh, and if you are hosting an event with speakers, ask them to invite their connections via the LinkedIn event. They can invite up to 1,000 connections.

So let’s say you have 10 speakers and they each invite 1000 and you invite 1000. That's 11000 invites that just got sent out!

Here is an example of an online summit I hosted with multiple speakers:

...and that my friends is how you level up your LinkedIn Event game!

## The WHAT and WHY

I’m often asked, “Mary, what type of events work best on LinkedIn?” Truth be told, almost any event works well on the platform. Here are some ideas for you to ponder.

Types of events that you can set up an event for are:

In-person or online

  • Workshops

  • Summits

  • Masterclasses

  • Trainings

  • Masterminds

  • Webinars

  • Conferences

  • Product launches

  • Book launches

  • Live shows

  • Interview someone famous  (why not!)

Why use them?

  • Network with others

  • Grow your community

  • Position yourself as an expert

  • Expand your reach

  • Practice public speaking

Best ways to promote:

  • LinkedIn Status update

  • Publish a post about  your awesome event

  • Have guest speakers promote

  • DM your connections (this is the sprinkles on the cupcake for me!)

Finally, I’d like to remind you to always test new strategies out. If your first event on Monday at 7 am pdt didn’t attract a large enough audience it doesn't mean that events won’t work for you, perhaps it was the title or the time of the event.
