The Three Main Ingredients You Need For A Great Live Video On LinkedIn!Your trending TOTS ( Tips On TuesdayS) feature blog is continuing with our Native Video debut from last week, with some awesome tips on how to actually create high-quality videos to make a great first impression.
No boxed-cake recipes here! We are going to share the gourmet ingredients to really set the tone – and – your confidence level right from the start!
Today I’m going to be talking all about the best tech tools, apps, and communication tips you need to help you make this new limelight work toward your advantage.
Why is this so important? Well, Reg Sorrell from Online Videos Perth shares that LinkedIn live video is not like YouTube or Facebook (contrary to popular opinion) and it matters how your video is being broadcasted. Poorer quality videos will reflect badly on you and your business because your LinkedIn audience is potential employees, employers, clients and business partners.
Think, the difference between a Hostess packaged cupcake, and a gourmet cupcake. One is perceived as being “cheap” and nothing about your branding [which includes live video broadcasting] should be cheap!
So basically, your reputation and further influence is impacted and showcased in a much different capacity than with YouTube and Facebook videos; and there is a higher degree of expectation to have content be professional and well curated.
Now, what were those gourmet ingredients for a fabulous video?
According to Online Videos Perth the best ingredients include a mixture of tech and tact with your communication and presentation, like proper phone/camera mounts, audio lapels that plug into your phone, and natural lighting! Some of this may go without saying, but the more you can minimize shaky footage, bad background noise, and unflattering lighting, the better you can broadcast a professional and aesthetically appealing video.
Here are your basic tech ingredients to [literally] get you set up with all the visual and audio effects for your video.
1. Your Visual Ingredients:
You will absolutely need a mount for your iPhone – and there are several kinds depending on whether you’ll be sitting, standing, etc.
And let’s not forget about the Lighting! While your best bet would be to work with as much natural lighting as possible – [which of course would be free] Sometimes our commitments and availability don’t always align with day-light windows. So, in that case, artificial light is also an option.
[*Here is a pro tip! try to have the lights or direct light source at eye level, this will eliminate any shadows and the need for fill lights etc.]
3. Your Communication Ingredients:
Teleprompts and cue cards aren’t just for the late night T.V. show hosts and newscasters! Some form of a scripted template will help you stay on track with your key points you want to get across to people [and not sound like a robot!] You can utilize free resources like Keynote or PowerPoint to read along to, or actually purchase professional equipment or apps like this:
Just remember, it’s not about being perfect! It’s about practicing, and before you know it, you won’t even need to look at the ingredient list for a fabulous video!
Now that you have your key ingredients, we’ll keep rolling with our video theme to learn more about great communication and speaking tips to look and sound your best and mix everything together for a final video product with next week’s post!
